keyless entry question

I have a 2003 F350 CC dually, and bought it with just a key (no FOB's). I found the procedure to check and see if I have keyless entry (cycling the on-of between position 3 and 4 eight times) and the locks didn't cycle. I assume that means my truck didn't come with keyless entry (or is that called remote entry?). Either way, if it isn't equipped, what is required / needed to install it? I would much rather have the little FOB's to lock & unlock the truck, rather than having to use the key in the door cylinder each time.

Im sure you did, but just going to remind you...you have to be very specific in those positions and which position you end at. It took me a couple of times of doing it before i got it right to program my FOB's.

I tried it a few ways, but it's very possible I did it wrong.

if you have your manual, it should tell you how exactly to do it. and which position to end on. i believe it was the on position, but cant be sure right now

yep, it said start at 3, click to four and back, 8x, with the 8th time ending on #4. Tried that, nothing. Tried ending on 3, nothing. I think maybe this truck didn't come set up for keyless?

i find it hard to believe that unless it was a base model truck, but it may be that way

XLT with leather, PDL, PW, etc. so probably does have it and I'm muckin' it up. Does it matter if the doors are unlocked or locked when I start? Also, does the door need to be open or closed, or doesn't matter?

if the truck didn't come with it (highly doubt it, but possible) what is required to add it? Can the parts be sourced from a junkyard pretty easily?

I just logged on to ask if this key fob program feature is working myself. I have a key fob that has been working but recently quit so I looked in the manual and tried the program sequence you are talking about and I can't get my lock to give the confirmation lock\unlock either. It says to start in position 3, cycle 8 times ending in position 4, that's impossible it will either have to be 7 or 9 cycles to start in 3 and end in 4 Anyone that's had luck programing this way please chime in.

I'm having the same problem. I just bought an 05 f350 last night. Truck has keyless entry but dealer didn't have the remotes for the truck. He gave me some remotes and said once i program them they should work fine. They are ford remotes but i can't get the truck into programming mode to program them. Oh, and I don't have a manual to go by so i'm just reading how to do it off here but i'm having same problems. Any help is appreciated.
