Altenators and stereo/amps
I'm putting a system in my f350 6.0 (subs, amp, speakers). I have a 1000 watt Hifonics 5 channel amp to run my entire system. Here's the question: do i need to do anything to the charging system? upgrade my stock altenator for the increased power demand? I seen a 200 amp excursion diesel altenator..would this work for me? any tips also would be appreciated..... thanks in advance

Your stock alternator should be fine. How many subs are you gonna be running? What kind of shape are your batterys in?

your stock altenator should be fine just and a 1.0 or a 2.0 farrod cap its proable cheaper and easier to install. plus this way your lights and what ever else you have in the truck won't dim or have power taken away from it when you pound the tunes.

you should be fine with the stock setup. Upgrading to a larger alternator won't hurt, but i'd leave it alone and just install a 1 farad cap or larger, but larger is not necessarily needed.
I run 800 watts, and I get minimal disco lights, usually only when i'm playing a 30hz test track from my old usac disc lol ( i dont have my cap installed either) |
