4 way trailer light plug corroded
So I hooked up my 6x12 trailer for the first time and plugged it into the 4 way factory plug under my bumper and no parking lights. Turn signals worked. I unplugged it and was looking at the plug on my truck and it looks like the parking light terminal is completely corroded away inside the plug. What is the wiring harness like for this plug? It is an easy replacement or is it tied into the harness for the large round plug next to it? I think I can get an adapter for the large round plug to adapt the 4 flat but I'd like to have the 4 flat next to it instead of needing an adapter. Anyone have to replace that 4 flat harness?

I am going to assume that it is spliced into the 7 way plug next to it. Weather it is spliced in by the factor or put on the terminals in the plut you will have to find out. there plugs are easy to deal with just breakinto and you should figure it out pretty quickly.

So I called the dealer today for the wiring harness. It's about 2 ft long and y's into the two plugs for trailers. Dealer quoted me $125. Looks like I am not going that route. I got an adapter to plug in the 6 way that I can plug my trailer flat 4 into

You can go to Walmart to get a 7-pin to 4-pin adapter. Not sure of the price, but it's way less than $125! We got one for our boat when I had my F150. That way I could tow my travel trailer using the 7-pin and my boat with the 4-pin.
They look something like this: ![]() I don't use it w/my F350 because of the two plugs. |
