remote start???

alright guys i really would like to have a remote start on my 05 6.0. but i have no clue soo....
1 whats a good but not crazy priced system?
2 what is the price on this? (approx)
3 how does it work with the glow plugs?
4 how hard or detailed is the install?
5 any other thoughts or input is appreciated!

If you have an android or iphone get a viper with smart start. No keyfobs needed and you can start/monitor your truck from anywhere.

Price...varies..check crutchfield or bestbuy or ebay.

All of them pretty much have a delay that you can set for a certain amount of time between when the truck powers up (like the key is on) and when it actually cranks. Mine is set to 30 seconds and it is too long.

Install sucks unless you like laying on your floorboard and enjoy the challenge. I would never do it again myself.

I have the Viper 5701 that my wife got me for Christmas (she got it off Amazon and I believe it was like $200).

I called a local place to get it installed (since its pretty cold out) and they wanted $280 and the guy kept telling me that I needed some bypass module, even though I told him over and over that I didn't.

So now I am doing the install myself. There are quite a few people that have done it before so there is alot of information.

1. Stay with a name you know.... Viper, AutoPage, CompuStar, Audiovox and such
2. Figure 150.00 to 300.oo or more depending on the system and where you buy it.
3. Timer to delay start like poster above said.
4. A remote start is not a terribly hard install but it does take some skill. If your questioning it i would probably let the trained do it.
5. Do your homework. Make sure you know what your getting before you order it. No bypass is needed unless the vehicle is a 2008 or newer.

awsome thanks for the input! sorry it took me a while to get back on. i will probly be doing this before to long. i dont think i will do it my self im not quite the electrician. lol it will probly come soon after my stacks..
