I have 5x7s in mine and are sony expload. They suck. So dont get em.
However 6x8s are the replacement size to get in which I should have got in the first place. Thats what you get for listening to a Best Buy dude on speakers. |

it kinda depends on how much you wanna spend. If you don't mind dropping a little cash I would recommend either morel or focal, but if you wanna do something a little cheaper mbquart is always a good medium. I would recommend getting a amp to power the speakers as well. That will really step up the sound a lot. Check out this website Woofersetc.com the online car audio super store, the largest selection at the lowest prices! I buy all my stereo equipment from them. They are cheap and ship stuff quick.

im looking to spend around 150 per set.... what is the best brand then... MB Quart?
how hard is it to fit 6.5 in the front and the back of a cc? are 6.5's better than 6x8's? I dont know much about car audio anymore... Last edited by cconnell; 12-05-2010 at 10:38 AM. |

I have polk Db's, got then from circuit city (alas no more CC, lovedf their buy one get one sales lol) but the speakers seem to be holding up well, sound good, but cant handle much bass at all, as i wouldnt expect door speakers to.......so i have a couple 8's for the bottom end, but if i could afford it i'd have Focal or JL Audio or Boston Acoustics, in that order for mids and highs.

For around $150 a set mb quart is gonna be one of the better choices. JL audio is ok, way over priced IMO. You could also check out image dynamics and Polk audio. It's pretty easy to fit a 6.5 in those spots. If you look online you can find adapter plates that screw into the 6x8 spot that allows you to put a different speaker in it's place.

Are you using your stock head unit? If so, there really isnt any need to get a great speaker.

Yes I'm keeping the stock unit for now. What are the best speakers to go with? I want a Tad bit more bass and better highs.
My wife's escalade has the Bose package. Is there any way to get it to sound like that without amp and stuff. Last edited by cconnell; 12-06-2010 at 07:02 AM. |

Didn't even think about if you had the stock head unit or not. Agreed, with the stock head unit your not gonna get a very impressive sound regardless the speakers you buy. It will sound better then stock, but not near as good as if you had a aftermarket head unit. Head units are cheap, I would pick one up along with the speakers.
