My headlights went out also. I found 2 bad pins in the top connector into the multi funtion switch. I moved my steering wheel up and down and my lites would come back on, sometimes.

I would remove the head light switch and verify you are getting voltage at the headlight terminal on the back side of the switch. If you have power there you will need to follow the circuit until you find the faulty component. Being you said you can move the steering wheel up and down and the lights worked at on time I would suspect you have a damaged wire in the steering column. I would remove the covers for the steering column and double check the wires there too.
