back up sensor????

ok, so my 03 f350 backup sensors havent worked for about 2 yrs now. not a big deal to me. read that its probably the control box for it and dont feel like spending the $ to replace it. like i said not a big deal to me. anyhow, this past week here in the Pacific NW we had some very cold weather. low 20's during the day and teens at night. One morning i went to go to work and put it in reverse and BEEEEEEPPPP. The sensors were working. there was snow and ice build up inside the rear bumper. They dont work again now that it has warmed up some since then. anybody have any idea why they would work suddenly, or have any similar situations? thanks....

The problem is usually fixed by replacing the speaker for the backup senser. I fit goes out the circut is boken.

It could also just be a sensor issue.
Set your e-brake, turn the ignition on and stick the truck in reverse.
Go to the back bumper and get your ear real close to each sensor.
A good sensor will have a rapid succession of clicks.
A bad sensor will be silent or have a much slower clicking noise.

Your issue may just be crap/water that got inside the connections at the sensors. Climb underneath there, unplug a sensor and push it into the bumper.
Clean out the garbage and put some dielectric grease on the plug terminals and put it back together. Then listen for the clicks, replace as necessary.

I recently replaced three out of the 4. Got the through Tousley for $78.09 each.
