Key Fob Ready for Door Locks??!?

I have an 04 F350 XLT that did not come with a door lock key fob, I know I can get one at the dealer but how do I know if the truck is "key fob compatable"? I do not want to spend $50.00 at the dealer only to find out that it does not work and is non-returnable.

turn the key on and off quickly 5 times, if the locks cycle your truck is ready for them

you can get the key fobs off ebay for $15, to program them just cycle the key 5 times and press a button on the new key fob.

I went out to my truck and cycled the key 5 times and got nothing. Did I do something wrong? I would have bet money that an XLT would have been key fob ready. It is pretty optioned out.
