Hi Guys, I have seen a few people that offer the service to repair the Compass Fuel Meter Message Center, I'd been told that there's a very simple way to fix them, do anyone has this procedure? I'd like to give it a try and fix it myself.
Is this what you're looking for? It's not difficult and should take 10 minutes or so to do. The SMD resisters come loose and need to be resoldered. Hope this helps!
Mine was just dim. It even was a slightly different layout for the resistors. I went ahead and remelted the solder to all the resistors and it brightened right up.
Thanks for the info. Someone should get that into the tech forum.
Wait a minute... I went to reset the meter filling up and it dimmed back down again. I wonder if something else is wrong. I might pull it down again tomarrow and try unplugging and plugging it back in again.
Finally got around to look into this problem BUT I don't see anything wrong:dunno: the only sign that I have is the upper left display which looks like?:dunno::doh: any ideas:dunno:
In the last picture, see those tiny blocks (I think they say 680 or something like that on them). Plug in your display, then press down on each of those blocks with a blunt tooth pick or something non-conductive. The display should work properly when you hit the right resister. Of course, the display could be shot as well. Does it work at all?
thanks for the tip! yes those are the 680, I will try your suggestion to plug the display and see if pushing on them helps, currently the display is completely blackout, now I see what they said about little hands to fix them!:hehe:
Thank you guys :thumb: I was able to repair mine, looking at blocks it look like everything was fine but I went ahead and I re-soldered all 3 of them and now I'm back in business.
