No speedometer

I noticed this afternoon my speedometer wasn't working. All the other gauges are working,no CEL and the tow/haul light isn't blinking.Even went as far as checking the fuse which was fine as well.
After checking on the site I think the likely culprit is the rear speed sensor.I ran up to the local advanced auto in the hopes they might be able to scan it and see if that was the probelm, but unfortunatley it appears they can only check something if the CEL is on.
I'll take it by a friends shop tomorrow and have him hook his scanner up and make sure my suspicions are right before buying the part.

You guys that contribute here are awesome.I have been able to figured out a lot of small problems by coming on the site and searching for previous posts.

I'm fighting that same battle myself right now. My speedo works, but sticks from time to time. Never sticks at the same speed and occasionally goes back to normal. Took it in to the dealer, they first thought it was a mismatched VIN in the ABS module but it got stuck that very night when I took it home. Took it back to them with the needle stuck at 30 and they couldn't figure it out. They stated they could not replicate the scenario therefore they would not recommend replacement of the instrument cluster until it happens again. It's just out of warranty for this kind of crap(go figure) and I'm not really keen on paying them half my paycheck to replace the cluster. I am however online right now ordering the new Edge Insight CTS because I want to monitor more things anyway. Good luck to you and let us know what you find out!

This happened to me a couple weeks ago. I had been doing some serious stump/tree pulling stuff and it quit working. I climbed under the truck and jiggled the wires and plugs for the transfer case and the trans and its been fine ever since. Hopefully that did it.

We replaced the rear abs sensor today still no speedometer.

The abs module is receiving the signal, but not sending it to the speedo. It's to hot to mess with it anymore for right now.I'm going to pull the cluster and see if there is a wire loose or maybe broken.

Open for suggestion

An update...

The day the speedo stopped working I had attempted the overhead computer repair. As a last ditch effort before spending big $$$ on a new cluster I decided to unplug the overhead unit.Low and behold I have a speedometer again.

mine does the same thing, its not every time i drive, but definitely the majority of the time. It gets sucks somewhere like 40 for example, then the next time i start the truck it acts like 40 is 0 and goes from there, so if i'm doing 70, the speedo says i'm 100 etc. It really sucks and i dont know what to do.

I do have a Edge insight, so i'm running a speedo on that, that works fine. But any help is greatly appreciated. And i doubt my powertrain warranty would cover a new cluster right?

I'm having the same issues, speedo says I'm doing 40 sitting still, and 100 when I'm doing 50. Any luck on finding out what it is for sure?
