I hit a pole...

OK, ok...yes, I backed into a pole, and nothing anyone can say can make me feel any dumberer. Yes, I have the backup sensors...To my credit, I was jamming, and I was looking down at the lines in the side mirrors, and a large bush hid the outline and color of the pole. ANYWAYS, I didn't hit it hard. I'm probably the only person that would notice at a glance. There is some slight deformation in the bumper. The problem is, today, a whole day later, the backup sensors go to a straight solid tone when I'm in reverse? Don't know why. Like I said, the deformation is so slight, I can't believe it is causing the sensor to see something it wasn't seeing before. Anyone know how I can un-f**k this?

go to a scrap yard and get a "new" used bumper thats what id do... you might have damaged one of the sensors too it could just need replaced. and if your not to attactched to the back up warning im sure you can probly just unplug the sensors and that would probly disable it but im just picking strings here. see what the other guys have to say bout it

Getting a new bumper is out of the question...The one I have was sprayed in Albuquerque, along with my steps, grille guard, and rockers all the way around. I don't want a mismatched rear bumper, even if it was sprayed by someone else.

a competant shop should be able to match the color and shoot a difrent bumper for you but i would check all the sensors and see if any are broken or damaged... it could be something that needs to be reset since you hit some thing... a call to your local dealer might have some information for you that might not cost you any thing more than 5 minutes of your time

That one made me LMAO!

Don't feel bad, I was backing into a friends carport in my 99 and caught the drivers side mirror, and as we all know they do not fold forward! Luckily it held without snapping, but the cover came off the backside of it and never snapped on correctly afterwards. I had to resort to electrical tape to keep it on as it would work it's way loose after a week or so. It blended in perfectly! Good luck fixing the sensor prob.

Are you kidding - a pole isn't that bad

My wife went to move my previous truck in the drive so the kids wouldn't scratch the side with their bikes........but she accidently backed into the Basketball GOAL POST ........ WITH THE DOOR OPEN instead. It scared her so bad that I had to jump in and shut off the truck. It folded the door into the front fender and I had to drive it to the dealership going thru back streets with the door open cause it wouldn't close.
That was a day to remember...NOT. But when the bodyshop finished it was as good as new.
