Help with SUBS and Amp!...

I am in the market for a decent audio system and am really eyeing the JL Audio 10Wv2-4 subs which I will be goin with 2 10"subs. I called crutchfield and they suggested a Alpine 500watt amp...I have a Sony 1200watt 2 channel but they suggested the mono Alpine to be a perfect match..this combo sound good?..all reviews are excellent on both..help I'm driving myself crazy

Just get rid of the sony and get a halfway decent brand. Alpine is a good start.

i agree.

u sure u wana go 10s. thats a big cab space for 10s to fill up.

PS- i wouldnt buy anything from crutchfield, they r WAY better deals out there, when i was searching for audio stuff they were crazy on theyre prices. jus my .02

Are you saying that 2 10's are not adequate for the cab? I'm thinking about putting a system together and jsut wondering what you meant. thanks -JRB

From whom I've talked to and what I read that 2 quality 10" will hit just as hard and sound cleaner than the bigger subs.. They are working together essentially acting like bigger subs...so I'm definately ruling out the Sony amp since i've had it for 5 years and it's made due..lot of good reviews on the Alpine amp so probably gonna go with that..I only called crutchfield for advice not to buy..lot if audio stores around here but they all are so missinformed!..lack of knowledge..I'm really leaning toward these JL 10"s..haven't heard a bad thing about em..what 10"s do you all have?

ya i cant say if sony makes good speakers...but i had a sony headunit back in the day and it was very good never gave me problems and it worked pretty good, and i had a sony explod amp i think it was an 800 pushing some 6x9s and they sounded *****ENNNN so i would save ur money and keep the sony IMO o and stay away from Crutch they are sooo overpriced... i cant get why people buy from there...they always charge like full retail and not a dime less...check ebay and sonicelectronix.com they alwasy have decent prices .. just make sure what u buy on ebay isnt refurbished or anything alwasy better to get new

o and as far as 10s go i think it depends on what kind of music u want.. and im no audio expert this is just from my experiences ... i had a friend that had 10s and they sounded clean and hit good, but he listened to alot of rock and country if u like pop or rap a 12 will FOR SUREE sound better they hit alot harder than any 10 will.. and thats from experience only and ya JL makes one of the best subs out there..also ive heard kickers that soundvery good and they are a little cheaper
