Key fob programming

So, for my 2006 I ordered a flip key fob (like the nice cars) off ebay and the thing is awesome to say the least. I got the key part cut at Ford yesterday (for free ), and got it all working and good to go.

Now for the programming on the lock/unlock/panic buttons...

I followed all the steps yesterday evening and had only screwed up at the end (thinking it locking then unlocking was a bad thing, assumed it was only going to either lock or unlock after the 8 key turns) so I gave up frustrated.

Today I go back to try and I cant get the doors to do the lock/unlock (after learning that's what is supposed to happen) after the 8 turns in 10 seconds. It wont work with the door open or closed, or at all. Any insight into this?
