07 stereo issues
I have a 6 disk stereo with steering wheel controls. The cd player is a joke and there is ko aux input ( even though there is a aux button!????). I want a stereo I cab install and still use my steering controls. Any ideas? Prefferqbly one I can plug my iPhone into and large enough I don't have to use a big goofy plastic adapter. Thanks in advance!

Just about any radio (provided its one of the larger name brands) will work and allow you to still retain your steering wheel controls. For example; im running a Pioneer AVIC-Z3 with the PAC SWIPS (Pioneer steering wheel control adapter) and it works perfect. Others may be using the Kenwood or Alpine version but same principle.
I would just look at the specs and make sure that the radio supports the wired steering wheel input. |

pac makes great stuff ..some units allow you to assign buttons to do what you want them to do and not just whats normally aloud from what i hear, i have used their bypass kits on my alpine units and everything i have gotten from them works flawlessly

The aux input on the 6 cd changer is for a satellite radio.
I replaced my 6cd changer with a Pioneer D3 unit a couple of years ago. ipod interface that you control with the touchscreen. iphone plugs in too, and it will get charged. The head unit was actually pretty easy to put in. Biggest problem was finding the reverse and park wires on the truck - head unit uses these to turn on the backup camera. Front speakers were fairly easy to get to, rear speakers were a bear to replace. Had to drill holes in the floor to complete the stealthbox/sub installation. 2 amps went behind the rear seat. I got the PAC unit, but never could get it to correctly assign all keys, just some of them. |
