Has anyone installed their own Ravelco system?
I've been looking at the Ravelco system for quite a while. Its $499/installed if I have a Ravelco Dealer do it. I actually picked one up on Ebay for $25. Its brand new in the box, complete with all instructions and everything that comes with it.
I'm curious if anyone has installed their own? Doesn't seem like too bad of an install, but just wanted to get opinions. Thanks in advance for any info on this.

Yeah I am interested in this too. I was looking at that system on e-bay and wanted to get it but hesitant. Are each wiring diagrams different for every individual unit or are the pins assigned differently? Just not sure if that person on e-bay had a bunch and that they were all different?
Let me know how your install goes and what you find out about it.

I am a heavy duty mech and have installed a couple of these in highway tractors. They seem like a great idea if you actually use it. The trucks I put them in are company trucks that see many different drivers. Numerous times the drivers drop the truck off at the shop and I walk outside to move it into the shop and find the keys hanging from the ignition and the ravelco plugged in
I am also waiting for the day that a driver calls from the middle of nowhere saying he lost the ravelco device and cant start the truck.

Is Ravelco worth it?
Absolutely!
I've had one installed on my '04 for 5 years now. Zero problems with the installation. As someone else mentioned, it's impossible to bypass without some knowledge of how it's installed and what it does. If you've bought one on e-bay, do not fret. The Ravelco I have has 5 wires... 2 pairs for circuit interruption and a ground. All wires are black. It will work, but you need to determine which of Ravelco's black wires are "paired". You can do this with the plug installed, and using an ohm meter. Mark the pairs, then decide which circuits are to be interrupted. My installation interrupted the fuel pump control circuit and the starting circuit. I just traded to an '05 F350 King Ranch CC LB 4x4 and I need to find the wiring diagram for this truck so I can install the Ravelco into it. Any help would be appreciated! |
