radio trouble

the volume knob broke the other day, so i went out and bought a new radio, wired it all up sounds great except when i turn it all the way up it cuts out. is it the radio or is it my wiring? this is the first time i have ever put an after market radio in any of my trucks.

Is the radio you bought an aftermarket unit or a factory replacement? If it is an aftermarket, I have had a HU do that while hooked up to stock speakers. Too much power for them or something

it is an aftermarket radio but i have alpine type r door speakers

well if anyone is interested, i took the aftermarket radio back to best buy swapped with a new, put the new one and it work properly. no more cutting out.
