Subwoofer crossover setting?

Due to all the limitations on space etc. I decided to put in a 6" powered bazooka behind my back seats. I just wanted to get a little extra boom without spending any cash. It has worked well for my basic needs. However I do have one question. What do I set the crossover to? What difference does it make? Help me..... thanks

It will depend on your taste in music, but generally set it below 150hz. 120hz-100hz is a good palce to start. The X-Over, in your case low pass, only allows freqs. below a certain ponit to be reproduced thus eliminateing any unwanted freqs.. It stops mid level and high level signals from going to your sub, which would make it sound "muddy", and in general wastes power because your sub is not capable of reproducing them anyway.

It is a 200w self powered unit that I have connected to the high frequency connections (easy low tech way for me to get more boom)
I checked the manual and the X over can be set from 60 to 150hz, it also has a 'level' setting where should I set that at? I am assuming maxing it will not produce the best sound as with any amplifier.... thanks for all the help on this guys.

Dont go lower than 80 if you have the gain set to high. A 6" sub trying to reproduce anything below that will sound to distorted.

gain will be more important than the crossover freq. to avoid distortion, usually around 100-120 wil lgive you good sound without too much "boomyness" Even if you set it down to 80hz, it won't make too much difference in the distortion you may get, remeber you are cutting off everyything above you selected crossover point, so even at 100 or 120, you are still going to get freqs. of 80 and lower.
