Cruise control problem?

Sometimes my cruise control will not shut off when I hit the brake. Also I have problems sometimes getting the truck out of park. Could these problems be related to the switch at the brake pedal? If so what is the switch called or what is the part number?

I'm not an expert so given that, have you checked that the brake lights come on when you depress the pedal and it wont shift out of park? I dont know if the brake light switch is an all in one but if it is and the lights dont come on it could be the switch or connection to it.

The brake light is the primary shut-off for the CC. But if that fails there is a sensor in the master cylender. also ford has a recall on the harness coming off the master cylinder

My brake light appear to be working properly, but this only happens maybe 30% of the time when I use my cruise control. Is there some way to check if the recall has been done?

I have now replaced the brake light switch and the cruise release switch. Also checked all fuses. It has gotten to the point where I have to start the truck in neutral or I can't get it out of park. Also have to shut the cruise control off manualy or stomp the break and it will shut off. I still don't know if these problems are related.

Sorry I must have been sleeping when you posted this. There is a web site that you can go to and plug in your VIN number to see what recalls apply to your VIN. I can't remember if it also is linked to the database to see if its been completed or not. Either way somebody at Ford should be able to tell you. I just had mine done a couple weeks ago and its a relatively new recall so if you had the truck more than a couple months chances are it is not done and could be your problem.

There is a recall for the cruise control issue,
I believe it is the pressure switch on the master cylinder that needs to be replaced

I just replaced it. I looks like the rod on the master cylinder is worn where it contacts the Brake switch. If I move the switch just a tiny bit it works. Does anyone know what the part number would be for that rod?

I have no idea what the part number is, you might be able to pick one up at a salvage yard
