My driver's side battery already has my plow power feed tapped. I'm installing a 1300 watt amp for my new stereo, should I tap the feed off the other battery, or does it even matter ? Space sure is limited under that hood...pic
Also, should I consider adding a capacitor for the amp ? 500k ? ![]() Thanks Last edited by lordVader; 11-12-2009 at 05:17 PM. Reason: wrong link attachment |

well, 1300 watts is quite a bit, need a large gauge cable, and I'd hook to the bat that the alt dumps too......

I'm not sure if the 6.0's are the same way but on my truck, there's a distribution block behind the driver's side battery. On the front of it, there's a door that slides up. Slide it up and there's a post there that you can hook your power wire to

Yeah, I got a 4 Gauge wire for power and ground.
Not sure if I have the distribution block behind D side batt or not, but I was more worried about load pull on the battery itself. Anyone have experience with capacitors ? |

1,300w shouldn't be a problem. Just use 2ga or larger and make sure your ground is good.
The cap isn't really a fix, it will help power the amp for a few hits, but then it is depleted and just one more thing for the alternator to contend with. |
