Do you have pictures/instructions on how the actual removal of the old radio and install of this one went?

Pictures of it installed?

I'm a little picky as well, does this light up at night with the headlights and does it light up green and match the dash lights?

Thanks,

Adam

The process is pretty easy in the 05-07 trucks. Turn the key to the run position and shift the truck to low gear if you have an automatic trans. Engage the parking brake. Tilt the steering wheel all the way down.

Firmly grasp the upper dash panel and pull it free. There are no screws that hold it in place. Unplug the headlight switch, Interior air temp sensor 4x4 switch, and heater controls. Take the dash panel and place it somewhere out of the way.

After you are done with that. Take a ratchet, extension and 9/32s socket or nutdriver and remove the bolts that hold the radio in. Unplug the radio harness, and antenna and set the factory radio out of the way. Take the new head unit plug in the main harness and antenna. And in the case of this unit plug in the GPS antenna and USB cord and route them to wherever you choose.

Bolt the new unit in place using the existing screws from to original unit.

Then Take the dash panel, plug all the wire harnesses back in. Double check and make sure that you got them all plugged in or you will have to pull it off again I forgot the interior air temp sensor Then snap the dash in place.

Here's the pics

Thanks for the pics and info -- I had no idea it was that easy.

I'm really thinking about this now, wondering about a few more details:

I didn't realize these units had a seperate GPS antenna, I'm used to the dash units -- where did you mount yours and how is it mounted?

The long green wire was for the parking brake -- I assume so some functions will not work unless the parking brake is applied. Could you just tie this into one of the power wires and not have to worry about parking brake?

Your truck has steering wheel controls -- as does mine. You mentioned the stereo has wires for that. Did you hook them up and are you using them? Does it need some type of adapter?

Thanks again!

Adam

I put the gps antenna on the dash. It mounts with double face tape. As for the steering wheel controls. Those require an adapter to be able to use them.
