radar detector power source

I mount my radar detector as high on the windshield as possible. Is there a way to mount a power point in the overhead console of a 2004 Lariat?

My detector uses a unique wire with a male phone plug on one end. I'd rather not cut it if possible.

I ran mine down the pillar post to one of the upfitter switches so I can turn it on/off at a flip of the switch.

Try WalMart. You can buy Plug extenders that will have a male/femail end between a cord. You can plug it in, run it under your dash and then meet the radar detector's male end behind the A-Pillar. OR you could NOT use up one of your plugs and cut the walmart male end off and wire that into a 12v power source when the key is turned on.

Where do you live? If you're closeby I could help you.

I run a Valentine One with this type plug also. It's no problem to make a cable any lengh you need with a standard phone cord crimper (Radio Shack). I have the remote power connector (little black do-dad that came with the detector, it has a female power socket and wires) mounted at the top of the windshield with 3M tape. The wires are hidden in the head liner and run down the A pillar to the fuse box. I shortened up the power cable just long enough to reach the unit. It tucks up nice and out of the way.
Good luck,
MW
