Looking to do a stereo setup, HU, Subs

I havent been in the car audio scene in like 10 years. Im sure its all different now. what Im looking for is

Head Unit - does anyone make a flush screen, preferrably not pop up, that has EVERYTHING? MP3, CD, DVD, Touch screen, Nav, Ipod, Sat etc etc?

Subs - I know this is a tough one but Im not looking to shake the rear view mirror off. I listen to rock and rap so a little boom-ness is ok. Ive been reading up on them a bit and not sure I want the shallow mount subs. All Ive had in the past were 12s in ported boxs. i know with the CC Im limited. right now Im thinking three 8s or 10s. is JL Audio still good? how about Kicker and the square L subs?

Check out the Pioneer Avic series for the head unit. JL audio and Kicker are still great brands

i have two JL 8's in mine, and they sound great. tight bass, not muddy at all. me personally, i have had great luck with jl.....and not so great with kicker, except for their old comp series when they first came out with the inverted dustcap, those were great.

is it easy to move the seat forward say 1"? i know its tight back there and the pre 05 guys could do it easy. I do have the pull out tray under the seat but its not needed.

that would produce cleaner/tighter bass right? I listen to all music...rock, rap, techno, electronic. Im not looking to spend thousands for sound quality, I just want a nice sounding stereo. Im a huge home audio/video person (70" Sony sxrd tv w/ blu ray/hddvd and 1k watt surround sound and my pc has 8k songs on it) I just like being IN my movies and music.

yep, mine are sealed, mine are squeezed behind the rear seat in my OBS CC, box is 4.5 inches deep at bottom, 3.5 at top, each sub is in its own .38 cube ft box.

+1 on the Avic series. The Avic-D3 will do everything you want, and it's really cheap. The new Avic-X910bt is really cool, too, and the nav is flash memory based, so you won't need to keep inserting a map dvd. The best bang for your buck is the Kenwood DNX-5140 or 6140. The 6140 even has built in Bluetooth, and both of those have flash based garmin nav built in. The maps are not nearly as pretty as the Pioneers, but the accuracy is the best in the business.

the jl and memphis shallow mounts suck, they are terrible

The eclipse dvd head unit is a awesome unit

as for subs i like the l7 a friend has 2 15s with a 2600 watt amp and it will rattle the plates inside his house

go to dealercostaudio.com that is the cheapest place to buy everything
