want to pump up the base

i work at a Mazda dealer and the fully loaded cx9 come with Bose audio system and when u turn it all the way it sounds crystal clear and i want that in my super duty but when it comes audio systems i don't even know where to start i want to replace the door speakers and add a sub woofer but i don't know what it means when they start talking about bridging and voice coils and rms or how to match sub woofer to amp and then adding a cap not sure who makes good products, can i still use my stock radio or do i have to buy and aftermarket one, i would like to know what set ups you guys are running, i am not looking for someone to spend a hour typing up what all that stuff means but if you could point me in the right direction so i can teach myself about it that would be very helpful.

check out Car Alarm, Car Stereo, Mobile Video, and Cruise Control Info for Installers, wealth of information on car audio

HOWEVER, your best bet is going to be find a local car stereo shop and at least go talk to them about what you want to do. at least to get a good idea of what you need to do.
also, you do not HAVE to change your factory radio to run amps and the like, however, alot of people do change them out as an aftermarket head unit will allow easier adjustment and tuning for your system.

anything over stock is much better for sound. i run a alpine head unit, jl audio 1000.1 amp, two alpine type r 12", and kenwood dorr speakers up front and jbl's in the rear. all of it was used equipment and didnt cost much if you wire it yourself.

I would highly recommend an aftermarket HU as it will have the pre-amp connection needed to connect to a amp. You can use the stock HU with a hi-lo converter, but there is a moderate decrease in sound quality.
If you are thinking of doing the system yourself, check eBay. I picked up all my Alpine gear that way and saved a fortune.

Bridging= tying two amps or two amp channels together for more power
Voice coil= electromagnet in speaker that moves the speaker cone in relation to its magnet
RMS= Root Mean Square or basically the usable wattage/power of a amp

More definitions here.
