Just a quick general troubleshooting tip: When your checking out any battery voltage (12v) circuit for power, particularly one that draws a significant amount of power (lights, power amps...) a test light is actually a more useful tool than a voltmeter. Because a voltmeter doesn't draw any current you can sometimes see full battery voltage on a circuit that has a poor connection whereas a test light will load the circuit and not light. I've lost track of how many light issues I've tracked down quickly with a test light after someone with a meter gave up.
