High Temp Performance Pan Called For?

Big Rock country, 8000lb Bushtracker van on the back of a CC KR 4x4 2006. Soft sand going through canyons, rough dirt roads, soft sandy dirt roads... Trans temp got to 200.... Average on highway in the hot weather (95 F) was about 182-185, Soft going in sandy tracks was maybe 192-195, hard going up steep tracks and rough going saw it up to 200 degrees once in a while...

OK? Not worth putting the increased pan and volume???? What do you think? Yes do it? Additional cooler? Or is the rare occasional 200 F OK, with probably the average of 190 when doing big towing in hot weather not a drama.... I know the talk was ideal under 180 F, but dat ain't happenin!!!

3500 kg van on dirt tracks, figure 190, no highways in the Outback...!!

Best Regards, and Merry Christmas to all.. lone Ranger in Oz...

Okay I don't haul all the time but I do haul soem heavy trailers and loaded down trucks up to the cabin. There are some really long steep grades we pull where the turbo and truck is definatley workin and I've seen in the 200 range a few times but never had any issues with it. I haul the trailer and everything about 3 times a year and have been doing it now for 2 and a half years. It will be interesting to see what others say on this matter.

I think there are a couple of options, deep pan, extra cooler, but with the temps I am running I am just wondering if it is necessary.......

Anyone know??? Bump....

Merry Christmas to one and all!!!! Wish there was a bridge so I could drive over and put about 10,000 km in my King Ranch and buy you all a drink!!!

The past week i pulled a ditchwitch for a buddy on a 20 foot car trailer, for a combined weight of 12,000. The temps never get over 155 without a trailer, they only got to 180 in stop and go traffic with the trailer.

Hello there Slammed,
I am a little heavier when towing a 22' Bushtracker Trailer, with all the gear it has like 8 water tanks, two air conditioners, solar power and four batteries, water sterilization, and more gear than you want to hear about......
And it is summer here, and I am seeing tranny temps as high as 200 when towing. My van is 3500kg loaded, what is that about 8500? Plus a ton in the truck, maybe up around 5000.. That is why I am wondering about the larger pan and if it helps....

Ranger, I would say atleast go with a bigger pan. I would to be out where you go all the time and have issues. Better safe than sorry in my book. Adding a bigger pan wont be that big of a deal, but it might save ya in the long run.

Like Brrs said, it would be a good idea to get a larger pan and maybe a better trans cooler.
