2005 E350 Won't stay in overdrive at 2000rpm

Hello members, noob here, hoping for some knowledge.

My E350 with the 5r110w will not stay in overdrive while trying to maintain cruising speeds at 1700 to 2000 rpms. With 96,000 miles on it and being a work van for painting. It has lead a rather easy well maintained life. For a little background info. On My last tranny service about 3000 miles ago I went to a dealer to get everything needed for another shop to do the service, minus a pan gasket which they forgot to give me(I have not had very good luck with dealership services on this vehicle). After an employee completed the service and started up the van to run through the gears the manager noticed that the dealership had given me the wrong fluid. I limped it home and called the dealer the next day(Monday). The service manager respectfully had it towed to his shop and they flushed the tranny.

My question is could the code p0973 (shift solenoid s1 short or failure) be a result of the wrong fluid.

For a funny side note... I stopped by a tranny shop today to get a quote one a solenoid replacement. The guy argued with me that my tranny had no solenoids and that it does not matter what kinda fluid I put in it. They are all the same. After covincing him that I did in fact have the 5r110w he recanted the solenoids but not the fluids. Contrary to everything I have read.
