2004 6.0 2wd crew cab, howling when i let off the gas...

Was test driving this 04 6.0 with 133k, crew cab, 2wd....

after 20-30 minutes i let off the gas on the highway, maybe 65-70mph and i can hear a low howling noise, no vibrations....

does it every time i let off the gas...

at 70mph i put it in neutral and revved the engine, no howling...

so seems like a tranny issue...

any clues ?

We had just negotiated a price and I ended up walking away after this
noise appeared...

problem is the rest of the truck is really nice and i'd still like to buy it, just wondering what im in for..

Thanks

Mike the new guy

Might be that a rear diff rebuild is needed. Could be a zillion other things too....
