In the market for a new trans 04 F250
Looking for suggestions on a new trans...
2004 F250 6.0l
MTW Stage 1 turbo
4" MBRP exhaust
SCT tuner with IDP Race Tune
Was out having snow fun other day, when I come home to back into my parking spot and I have no reverse. Spend couple minutes checking things over, fluid, drive shaft... Everything is good.
Get back into truck. Still no reverse. 4x4 hi/low nothing
Finally get it to catch, and back into spot.
Check codes and I have a....
P0766 Shift Solenoid D Perf/Stuck Off
P2703 Trans Friction Element D Apply Time Range/Perf
Trailered it to a buddies house. Bought solenoid just to see if that may get me by.
Pulled pan, burnt smell in fluid and metal shavings.
Not even gonna waste my time. Looking for a new trans.
I figure if I put another stock trans used or new from Ford. I'm going to be in the same boat in a year or so....
I drive my truck hard. Not going to lie. Not easy on it unless I'm towing something.
So leads me to a built one.... as when I'm done with truck I'd like to be around 550 hp range
Buy one built?
Buy parts to have it built by a local friend who knows what he's doing?
Which builder to use?
How much do I build it?
Torque converter to go with?
