Fluid level keeps CHANGING!!! WTF?

OK guys,

I have no idea what I am doing wrong. I always check the trans level with the engine running and in park. Today, I checked it because I had a leak at my external filter (Got that fixed). When I checked it, it was on the low side of the cold side of the dipstick. I literally put four ounces in and now it is reading just above the full mark on the hot side....Am I okay? Why is it so touchy with the fluid level? Am I doing wrong?

Thanks

What I would guess is happening is that when you insert the dipstick sometimes it enters the pan with the fill lines up and makes it look like the level is low while other times the dipstick is fill lines down making the fluid look overfull. When I flushed my trans I had the same problems but when I removed the pan and could see that the dipstick enters the pan at a 45* angle it made sense. So in other words, its not the fluid level that is changing, it is the dipstick direction that is changing.

Ahhhhhhhh gotcha, well I keep checking it periodically so hopefully I'm okay. When I checked it again tonight it was right on the H of the hot side mark.
