tranny question

i am looking into my second 6.0 and im aware of all the probs and things need to be done, but i had my little brother test drive a truck and the previous owner has installed some kind of program, or chip, it has cold air intake, and straight pipe, my brother says it dont feel right in the tranny says it shifts hard thru the gears and goes thru them fast and when it gets to 5th it feels like you loses power and its slow going thru the 5th gear, can anyone help, im thinking its just the chip or programmer just didnt have a tranny program like the sct tuner?

Hard to say for sure, but I like firm fast shifts. Only way to go IMO

Did the truck not come with the handheld tuner device? If not I would go get a sct tuner. You will need the ecm blanked and reprogrammed if I am not mistaken. Can be a headache as I had a tuner stolen and had to go through this. And youwant harder shifts (shift kit), one of the issues with the smooth shift from the 5r110 is actually causing harm to the transmission.
