tranny or fuel problem?

Recently bought a 04 6.0. The water fuel light was on when I got it so i drained the water and changed out the fuel filters. I have a banks 6 tunner and it was turned up to 4 and did fine until i changed the filters. I went into 1st and then hesitated before going into 2nd. I let off it then it shifted into 2nd. So I turned the banks down to 3 and the truck ran fine just lost some of that pep. So Friday I turned it back up to 4 and then it skipped a whole lot and by the time I got to the end of my road it skipped and cut off. I was thinking that it was the fuel pump b/c I had a gasser chevy and it acted the same way when it was the fuel pump going bad. I am very green to a diesel and have been looking for someone local but everybody knows a guy who knows a guy deal.

Low fuel pressure and bad filters will destroy injectors in these engines. Get a fuel pressure gauge, 45 psi is minimum at idle and wot. Idealy you want 65 psi. Only use motorcraft filters
