Needing insight on possible trannie noise

Alright guys got another question, lets see if anyone has some insight on it. I have an 04 F-250 superduty 6.0. When driving, usually right before a shift into 3rd, 5th, and sometimes 6th, it will make a noise kind of between a grinding and a fast knocking. But it also does it when I am running at a constant speed and hit a bump. You can hear it and also feel it in the floor pan. My gear shifter on the colom is loose and it may be a coincidence but when I hold it up tight it seems to not do it. My confusion is that it does it before shifting and in any gear when I hit a bump, so I am not sure if it is trannie or suspension. The truck does have a 6" lift if that makes a diffrence. Hopefully someone has some kind of solution please!
