don't understand. I can tell you the tranny shop that does all my work and they do alot of expensive stuff had 5 6.0L trucks with 5r110's all less than 60k miles with blown trannys. I know people can abuse there stuff I'm not one of them all I know is that the bottom of my truck was covered in tranny fluid and the back on the converter looked like it went to a bbq with the # 3 and 4 clutches .

A lot of people here swear by the 5R110 saying it's the best. But a few don't like them like me. I've had 5 units within 36K miles they never blew up or broke but they had annoying glitches and I wanted the glitches gone. Well problem now is the last tranny got rebuilt but now it has a new problem it slips in OD and I think 3rd or 4th and flairs between the 2nd and 3rd shift. My truck has probably had a total of 80+ days in the shop just for the tranny. I got my truck back 2 weeks ago after it being at Ford for 7 1/2 weeks just to get a new PCM that didn't fix anything. I had a programmer and it was insisted that it caused all of the problems but how could it cause the truck to go through 2 units before I bought the programmer and then cause the slipping right after I got the truck back from the tranny being rebuilt and it wasn't programmed yet. I just get excited when I hear another 5R110 took a dump because they are out there and I'm not the only one. Love the truck but not a fan of the 5R110.

How many of those trucks were running a tuner??? How many were NOT a custom tuned SCT tuner???

Well I guess you could always have a 4R100 or a Dodge 48RE that bust if you sneeze hard. Any tranny can be destroyed but the 5R110 has an excellent track record in the 5 years it's been available.

2 tranny's no tuner, 2 tranny's with tuner but same issues as first 2 tranny's, and 5th tranny slipping before tuner went back on. 5th tranny got 3000 miles before getting tuned. Haven't been tuned for 4000 miles and still same problem.

You will need trans tuning for anything over 380+rwhp in my opinion.

SCT is the only one with true transmission tuning. The stock trans will be fine for well over 500rwhp. We just finished up some more trans tuning and the stock trans computer has total control! The truck ran a 14.0 @ 98mph spinning the tires in the 1/4 mile, so the power is there(08 Crew Cab, Short Bed). This is still with the stock DPF. The off road/racing version is crazy, we just need to package this thing up and get it out.
