Help! No Reverse!

Put my truck in reverse today and it just sat there, gave it a little pedal and it started to shudder once it started to move, Put the truck back in drive and went around the block, then tried reverse again, nothing at all. It still drives perfect in all forward gears and the tranny doesnt heat, dealer says its got to be pulled and rebuilt, to the tune of $6000. Just wonderin if you guys know of any common problems or simple fixes?

Could be a valve body problem. Could be a torq converter problem. Could be a shift linkage problem. Could be an internal problem. If it is not under warranty take it to a trans shop. You will get a better job at a cheaper cost. Dealers over charge for labor. That is why your going to pay 6,000 dollars.

Unless the dealer hooked it up to a daignostic computer I doubt they know exactly what the problem is.

Good luck my truck is on tranny 5 and it's at Ford right now. Now it's slipping and they aren't going to work on it till I take it on a test drive.
