Tranny upgrades?

Hey all, took my truck in to our mechanic to fix the damn shake I get when it goes into overdrive. While he has the tranny apart, I wanted to build it up pretty descent. Like torque convertor and all. Where can i get parts or kits to do this? The truck is a 06' f350 with the 5r100 tranny.

a tripple disc TQ and some kind of shift kit would be more than enough... try John Wood Automotive - Home

Well I just bought it about 2 weeks ago. It has 60,000 on which puts that about 30k a year, so I Figure its highway miles, and possibly was towing a good amount of weight in OD? It may not even be the tranny but it only shakes in OD. Boost pressure it all fine and egr was taking out and cleaned, not to mention on my new tune it is deleted and still done it.

I've been towing in od since od trannies were invented and have never toasted one not even the early EOD or the E4OD. Of course if the tranny started to hunt I would run in D instead of OD. I've got at least 200,000 on those tranny's and maybe half of it towing something or other. Hey, has that tranny ever been serviced? Too often people buy these trucks knowing they are gonna oft them in a couple and never service them. That can kill em for sure. Keep us posted on what you find. Good luck

dont know if it has been serviced or not, just got the truck. I was going to try and contact the original owner too see what was up with the truck, but could not get a hold of him.

That don't sound good. If he made false statements when he sold it to you he could be held liable for the damage in court in many states.
You can tell buy smelling the fluid if it is burnt or not. Take it to a tranny shop, a good tranny shop and ask them. Wishing you the best.

We bought it from a dealer, which is not any better but ya. The fluid smells and looks fine. I had my fair share of wrenching, and my mechanic is a wizard with trannies. Which is why I am looking for upgrades...but hey, it may not even be the tranny. Ill keep you all posted though!
