Angry wont come out of park

For the last few months my truck has been fighting me when i try to take it out of park. Sometimes i have to sit there and wiggle the lever and pump the brakes for it to work. sometimes for minutes on end.
Its not the trannie fighting me but the gear shift lever. I looked in the owners manual and it said check all the taillight and brake bulbs and so i did and sure enough it helped my problem. Now its still fighting me and all my lights are working so i dont know what to do. To top it off i broke my parking brake release lever when i was trying to release it per owner manuals instructions to override the (parking position lock?) im not sure what its called.
Does anybody have any ideas on what it could be? also does anybody have the part number for the parking brake release lever?

Try to take it out of park with the key off but just turn the key enough to take it out of park. You dont want any dash power to do this. If that dont work, look at the end of the steering column where the shift cable attaches to the arm on the column. There are two torx bit screws that come loose. You might have to tighten them up.

I have the same problem with mine and I have to get out and rock the truck back and forth then hit the parking break then climb in and pull it out of park. PITA.

I had the same issue on mine. Couldn't get the truck out of park. I replaced the brake switch down by the brake pedal and it has worked ever since.

That is what I was going to say. I bet it has to do with the safety switch.
