TFT code, confused shifting

So my dad has an 04 F350 bone stock and about two months ago we took it on a trip to darlington and the check gage and tow haul lights came on, typical symptoms of a bad TFT sensor. We replaced the sensor, didnt fix it, replaced the harness and it seemed to clear the codes and shift normal. This past week we made a trip to west va towing an enclosed trailer with 4 wheelers and the gages started flashing again right when we got there. Transmission shifting hard and not staying in OD, shifting back and forth from 4-5 until it finally stayed in 5 and locked the TC. It pulls the P0713 code again on my CTS. Could the new sensor be faulty or a short in the wiring somewhere between the tranny and PCM? Any help is appreciated.
