Torque Converter Shot??

Just curious on you guys opinion...

I've been running the SPD from TSD for probably 8 months now... Its got the Early Lock up for the torque converter and what not..

But it doesn't feel the same anymore.. feels like a loss of power.. but its not like a loss of power from the engine's perspective.. It feels like im just not putting down power to the ground...

I used to be able to floor it going about 20mph and it'll drop down and soon as the turbo lights, it'll spin the rear tire and i'll get going... Now.. It downshifts but it'll shoot up to 4k rpm's and im not hardly going anywhere...

Same thing with just cruising off from a light... seems like the truck is working a lot harder to get up to speeds... But I haven't noticed any drop in MPG (I always get around 12-13 cause of my right foot), Once I get onto the highway and im at cruising speeds.. around 65-75.. it seems fine...but if i stomp on it.. She'll down shift and just shoot up on the rpms.. and not really get going anywhere...


Does this sound Torque converter issues? or Actually transmissino issues?

When you stomp it does it's shoot up then catch up and start pulling? Or does it just rev rev rev? I'd try reloading my tune and servicing the tranny.

Sometimes when i stomp it, it'll shoot up then catch and go.

Other times i let out because it feels so bad i don't wanna blow anything...

By service you mean change the fluid and filter??

Are you sure it's not the tc unlocking under sudden accel then locking again?

Yeah, change fluids and filter if it's close to due. That's always my first suggestion because it's cheap, and it's good to rule out the obvious

Idk... It feels more llike its just not even there...then all of a sudden it is...

But it never used to act this way...for the first 6 months orso...i could stomp it and from anything under 30mph it would down shift and take off hard enough to bark the tires .

Bump..

Mine is doing the same thing as stated above.
she started taking more time to get out of 2nd gear last week and today when I put the petal to the floor seemed like it was slipping... then king of a hard hit. I'm going to change the tranny fluid tomorrow to see if this helps

ive had similar issues ive narrowed it down to torque converter or the clutch packs in the trans. mine almost seems to come lose just before it shifts and then when it catches back i get a big jerk and a tire chirp but it only happens under lots of strain IE: high RPMS or smashing the throttle. PS this is on fresh fluid. it didnt happen before i changed the fluid it started happening about a month after the change in fluid.
