Slow Shifts when first started

My 6.0 PSD with a torqshift is slow shifting when it is first started up. Any time of day, any temperature. Ill crank up the truck and let it run for about 1 minute then ill take off. On the first run through of the gears its very slow, the RPMs will run up and it will shift kinda hard. Once it has done this once, it wont do it again. For the rest of the day it will shift perfect. Anyone have any ideas?

Mine is the same way in my E4OD. The fluid is thicker and I think this is what contributes to this.

As long as your trans fluid is cherry red and clean then I don't think this is a problem.

Oh, and with my OBS, I let it idel for awhile before I take off. when it has a chance to warm up that way, it shifts fine.

Yesterday i let it run for about 5 minutes wile i loaded stuff up and it was better but still slow shifting. The fluid looks great. I bought the truck used and im not sure of the maintenance on the tranny. Iv ordered the internal and external filters and the Motorcraft SP fluid. I am going to change everything this afternoon or tomorrow. I hope this helps it some.

That's always a good start. And with any new(used) vehicles always change all fluids.
But with temps droping you may notice it more.
I live in the AZ desert and in the summer, I don't really notice it much, but as the temps cool, I have noticed it more.

I do caution you not to run any "tunes" until it is up to temp. From what I have heard, this could cause some damage. And even some of the programmers account for trans temps.

I thought the same thing. Then I learned that it's not a truck. It's an ADDICTION!

I tried letting it run for about 10 minutes this morning before we left for work and it did perfect. I guess its just a little cool sensitive. After work today i plan to change every fluid on the truck from front to back.
