Trans stuck in 4th gear
Yesterday I was going down the road doing 55mph and my trans(torqshift) dropped into 4th and wouldn't down shift. I had to use a jumper wire to start it even. We're thinking a stuck solenoid or something but not sure. Anyone help shine light on the subject?

What do you mean that you had to use a jumper wire to start it? Are you sure that your shift cable didn't break and stick the trans into manual 3rd?

I can shift the trans into reverse but it's stuck in 4th when forward. Basically I had to jump the starter bc the computer thinks its in 4th.

Try Unplugging the fan clutch.
I know it sound weird but try it |

Any codes? Does your tow/haul light flash on and off? Could also try disconnecting the batteries for a couple of minutes.

If you had to jump it then I would be suspecting an issue with the transmission range sensor. You need to get it on a scanner, check codes and see if your range sensor reading matches the indicator on the dash.

Another twist is that I did a cummins swap so I have a pcs controller so no fan clutch either.

Unless is like below zero, then it uses 4th, but shifts to 6th. This is why the SCT programmers ask for 3-5 and 5-6 shift pressure preference. Depending on pedal pressure, if it only down shifted once, it could have just unlocked the converter because my converter is usually locked by the time I hit 55 and it feels like a gear shift. Speculation aside, you should be able to manually shift between 1st and 3rd on the column, if not, you have solenoid and/or transmission issues. I bought a rebuilt valve body off eBay for $250 that included all 7 solenoids and wiring harness. Ultimately my clutches were shot, but this may be a place for you to start.
