2-3 shift slipping?
on the 2-3 shift on light/moderate accel the trans shifts out of 2nd and rpms stay around 3k or so then it catches into 3rd after a sec or two. it didnt do it before i had the batt unplugged when i did the turbo clean procedure and its done it twice so far...any ideas?

well i know mine does the same thing from 2-3rd and it only started happening when i lifted it again.....does it because my speedo is 10mpg off so when im traveling 40 my speedo says 30 and the tranny things im going to slow so it shifts down but i dont want to go faster then it goes back up... does it on the highway too if i go around 60mph shifting from overdive back down... could also be your tranny relearning your driving style because you unplugged the batteries... or it could be something more serious

its still doing it..i dont drive my truck much b/c im saving for tires but every other time i drive it it flutters between 2-3 shift and wont shift until i let off the gas a lil..im not driving it with a heavy foot either..anything i could check? fluid looks good i changed it 6k miles ago... im still kinda puzzled b/c it hadnt done this before when i drove it more before i did the turbo clean and had the batt unplugged for a couple days...could it be a turbo relearn problem?i think i relearned it right..i idled the truck till operating temp..shut it off and undid batt for 30 min and started it back up and drove it a little. any ideas im kinda stumped here?? thanks |

I had loose shifts in my '96, went to a real transmittion shop and they evaluated it and installed a aftermarket shift kit that had new shift control valves. They also flushed out the torque convertor and cooler. It now shifts without any hesitation, the transmittion guy suggested a temp gauge for the trans also, as I tow a heavy boat.

I got an '06 that's completely stock, 26,000 miles on it currently and does the same thing for me. I've been skimming the forum for answers myself. I own the truck about a month now and Im concerned. Not sure if its normal. When Im highway driving around 60mph and go to pass, the rpms climb and I feel the truck sits there a sec then downshifts.

mine( i believe its good now as it hasnt done it yet again) was actually a loss of power issue where the trans would delay the 2-3 shift on normal accel.since i fixed the power loss issue it hasnt done it again. i was told to do the relearn procedure and make sure fluid looks good. if that dont work i imagine the dealer would have to look at it...its under warrenty still right??
good luck |
