Tranny issue!! Delay

Hey guys.

So my wonderful transmission has be acting up lately. It has a delay when going in to reverse and to drive. Shifts fine when driving. Fluid was low about 3 quarts is what I put in. I bought this truck with 164,xxx miles on it and I know the filters and fluid have never been changed. I will be planning on changing the fluid and filters this comming week. So could this just be bad worn down fluid or filters? Or is this somthing bad in the making?

Thanks guys this forum has been a huge help keeping my truck alive.

I had this problem at 180,000. Then the 3-4 shift went to slip sliding. Long story short, it ended up costing me a tranny rebuild. What year is your truck, you probably have the same problem I did? The planetary set was coming apart and putting metal into the fluid. I now have a welded planetary set, some updates, and a shift kit. Still not happy with the way it shifts, but now it's got a warranty. If you do have to rebuild, research it, not too many people can build these trannys correctly. Hope this helps.

Sounds just like the issue I just had fixed. Check out my post... My warranty covered it but the dealer told me it would have been about a $2,000 fix if I had to pay!

Problem with trans, SCT at at fault? Or just me?
