Tranny Fluids?
Ok I was just wondering should I only run Motorcraft trans oil or can I really use any good brand. I wanted to change out to a synthic because I heard its better in the cold climates.
Thanks guys. |

I switched my truck to Amsoil Low Viscosity ATF, which is the same as the Motorcraft LV. I did it when i went to the 08+ Pan and Filter and GO GO Solenoid. I Drained the pan and did the toliet roll bypass filter at 41K and now at 44 drained it again and went to the newer pan. Fluid is Cherry Red and shifts smooth and firm now too.

Use Mercon LV or SP. There is not enough data to positively show that aftermarket fluids are good to use. Look at my sig for flushing the fluid.

That's what I thought. Also I heard from a transmission guy that its good to drain it then fill it drive for about 500-2000 miles then drain it, then change the filters.
