5r110 low/reverse snapring- cracked case

I have a 5r110 built on 12-04 that spun the reverse snapring. The snapring broke a spline and put a hole in my case. I saw that there was a recall on the wavy snap ring from the snow plow package trucks but the ford dealer said my truck did not qualify. Any one else have this problem?
