tranny temps

what does everyones tranny temps run at while driving around, and also towing around 8000 to 10000 pounds. My tranny seems to be getting to hot for just driving around town or on the freeway

That's hotter than mine gets towing in AZ in the summer.

Typical driving I'm in the 170-175 range. Towing a heavy trailer and in 110* outside temps it might hit 200, but I doubt it. I don't recall the actual number, just was so surprised it was so low.

I just went for a 30 mile round trip drive. Mix of street/freeway. Mine stayed between 160 and 163. I could not really remember when I had told you 170-175 because it's always so low I never worry about it. 190-215 seems high to me.

Unloaded I my temps never vary from 165* to 168* no matter how hot it is outside. Pulling our 10k 34 foot fifth wheel trailer the hottest I ever saw was 190* and that was in 95* degrees outside

So im guessing i have some sort of problem since my tranny seems to be getting way to hot. Im going to get a tranny flush i dont think that will drop it about 30 to 40 degrees but thats my first thing to do. what else could i do to get my tranny to stay cooler for even just normal city and freeway driving. And can there be some sort of problem internally in my tranny

Flush and new filters would probably help, but I would say you tranny cooler is at least partially restricted. Not sure if that is a common thing on these trucks or not. But if I was running 30* higher than everyone else, the cooler is what I would be after. Maybe even a larger aftermarket one if possible.
