Torque Converter Chatters!

I have a '04 6.0 with 278,xxx on it. Just last weekend i was stopped at a red light and when i tried to go my trans was slippin hard. so i babied the throttle and it went just fine. i checked my trans fluid and i was full and smelt fine. Now when the trans gets to operating temp the tq chatters upon take off. but if i slam the gas pedal up and down fast it makes a clunk and then everything works great. I had the same problem with my cummins and it was just the throttle body sensor. but the 6.0 doesnt have one. Any ideas?

I am inspired that you have a 6.0 with 278,000 miles on it !! What did you do to keep it going that long? Is this the factory transmission? Sorry I am no help at all on your question.

yes. except for my trans problem! please help. its almost like i have low trans pressure. when i get into the throttle there is a definite click sound from the trans and everything will work great. but once i return to cruising speed and try to accelerate again the same issues occur. i dropped the pan, pulled the valve body out, checked the shift solenoids, replaced the filters and fluid and no change.. is there a sensor that could cause this??
