Slip yoke thud
Ok I have figured out the thud in the trannie. It is the slip yoke, but why does it make a thud sound?

is it loose in the splines? you may need to add some grease to fill up the voids. ford has a special blue teflon grease we use
sure it's not the u-joints worn out? |

I don't think it's the u joints because it's about 5 feet from when you take off it makes the thud. I think it's the slip yoke I just didn't know why it made the thud, the loose or worn splines makes sense.

Not loose splines, just use the Ford recommended teflon grease. This is a known condition of the slip yoke, solved with the Ford Teflon grease. Piece o'cake to fix
