5r100 4x versus 2x output shaft

I am thinking about swapping my truck to 4 wheel drive looking at the frame between my 03 2 wheel and my 00 4 wheel it looks like a bolt in project for teh suspension. My question is this what has to be done to the trans to bolt up my spare 271 tcase. I would love to buy another 4x but I owe way to much on the old girl to trade her.

The tailshaft is interchangable between the 2wd and 4wd, not sure about the TCM or the 4wd switch and lights but that probably wouldn't be too terrible to make something work.

Are you saying its the same shaft. I know that the transfercase adapter is a different piece(part number) than the tailhousing on the 5r. What I'm worried about is if you have to tear the trans down past swapping the tail housing. If so I may just have to find a "new" trans as there's not a tranny guy around here I would trust with a turbo 350.
