Old Friend goes under the knife

It served me faithfully. Got me home everytime I asked it. After long days in the field (powerline industry), travel through plowed fields, creeks, hills, pulling skidsteers, excavators, everything I asked it to do.... it managed to help me find my driveway. After the destructive weather throughout AL and Ga, we went to work storm. I believe the proverbial straw was pulling another 250 (ECSB, Camper, 15K warn, loaded out with grounds, steel and other misc tooling) up a hill that the poor gas burner couldnt negotiate. On the trip home, I noticed the trans temp getting high. I stopped in a carwash, ate lunch, waiting on the temps to drop. Afterwards I sprayed down the cooler to get shy of any debris from the jobsite. Satisfied and cooler (Me and MT), I limped my faithful truck home, sad as I noticed the slip. Still, after pulling me home (170 miles), to show it's strength and loyalty, it made the trip to the repair shop today. With a very delayed reverse from the homestead, we made our way, together, to the shop. Now it's my turn to be a good friend to my friend. My faithful 5R110.
It will be undergoing major surgery, so keep your fingers crossed.
(Cue the music)
Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the bionic tran. 5R110 will be that trans. Better than he was before. Better. Stronger. Faster

Figured while it's down, I'll stock up on some "reliability" mods.
Blue spring
Banjo's
turbo feed hose
Powermaxx
One piece driveshaft
New tunes
New brakes/rotors all around
A good, solid, day long detail

Touching story. I almost teared up. *sniff, sniff* Such a faithful tranny!

Sounds like you are going all out! Those are GREAT reliability mods. Any thoughts on fixing some of the High Pressure Oil system woes? STC fitting, stand-pipes and dummy plugs? Since you aren't having problems, I wouldn't suspect you want to do all that, but since you have it apart... Just a thought.
