Trans "Crack"

So I have started to notice that when I shift from reverse to drive and start to move forward I hear a very noticeable "crack" or popping noise. I think its the trans because it seems to be comming from right under me. Anyone encounter something like this?? Its a '04 auto with 51,xxx miles

u joints from the rear end maybe would be my guess

Thats what I intially thought too but I checked it out and there's no excess play or anything, I think its inside the tranny, but really hope not...

mine makes a pop sound going into gear with a brand new built tranny and it did it before aswell
